The Marcie Chapa Project fuses of all of the different styles of music that she loves: Latin, R&B, Smooth Jazz, Neo-Soul, Afro-beat, and Hip Hop. This band is a collective of the most talented musicians that Marcie has worked with through the years. Lead vocals feature David Delagarza who transitions effortlessly from the smooth grooves of R&B to the Latin music that both he and Marcie loves. Kyle Turner, saxophonist, and national recording artist, relishes in playing with the Marcie Chapa project. The diversity of the music gives him a reprieve from playing his signature smooth jazz sound, but he makes sure that the jazz aesthetic is ever present in every note.
Mix in John Calderon on guitar, Junie Wallace on drums, and Anthony “AntBoogie” Nicholson on bass; and what you have is an eclectic mix of high energy musicality.
There are not a lot of groups that can cover Maxwell’s “Ascension” to Santana’s “Maria Maria” and the Marcie Chapa Project transitions between genres organically. This group was assembled to play the music that they love. Their love for music and the fun that they have on stage keeps the crowds on their feet. Marcie Chapa is the musician’s favorite musician, and she will continue to march to the sweet sounding beat of her own drum with the Marcie Chapa Project.
